Former Bullets Mason Watson and Jamie Halder, along with Oxford duo Jacob Clouting and Ashton Vale complete the line-up for next Saturday’s NDLRC Stars of Tomorrow, powered by Terry Straughan Builder, Plasterer, Tiler at Shielfield Park.

Watson switched to Edinburgh after the decision to disband Berwick’s NDL team while the popular Halder was snapped up by the Redcar-based Middlesbrough team formed over the winter.

Hertfordshire-born Vale, aged 16, made his NDL debut for the Kent Royals at Iwade in 2022, switching to Oxford for the current season, although this will be his Shielfield Park debut.

Despite being just 25 Clouting, the son of former British Junior Champion Savalas, made his debut with Kent Kings at Central Park in 2018, following them to Iwade before joining Oxford when speedway re-opened at Cowley in 2022.

The field is a good mixture of raw teenage talent and slightly more experienced riders looking to make an impact with Championship places for 2025 up for grab.

Belle Vue wonderkid Williams Cairns had initially accepted an invitation only to be called up for a 250cc international meeting in Europe next weekend while another expected to be in the starting 16, Luke Killeen, is unavailable due to other commitments while, brother Declan – declared in the Berwick Academy team for 2022 but unable to race due to visa problems – returns to Australia on Monday after a brief visit which included his National League debut for Oxford against Leicester Cubs.

The meeting will be held over 20 heats with all riders appearing five times. A race-off will decide any ties for a podium place.

There is still time to sponsor a heat for the final meeting of the season – £100 – with Sarah Bulman, Teng Tools, BSN, Rapid Reaction NE, Berwick Bandits’ Supporters Club, Oxford Speedway Supporters Club, Brian Renton and the Black and Gold already backing the night along with former Stars of Tomorrow competitor Terry Straughan.

Anyone looking to add their name to the list can contact Berwick Speedway via email: club@berwickspeedway.com over the weekend.

Tickets for the meeting – start 7pm – are on sale now and cost £12 until midnight on 6 September. Matchday prices for e-tickets and cash will be £14. Accompanied under-16s admitted free and there is free car parking.

Please note this meeting is not part of the season pass package. Buy tickets

The full line-up (not in riding order) is: Ace Pijper, Stene Pijper (Sheffield/Scunthorpe), Luke Crang, Arran Butcher (Leicester), Connor Coles, Dayle Wood, Mason Watson (Monarchs Academy), Jake Mulford, William Hocaniuk, Jamie Halder (Middlesbrough), Jody Scott, Senna Summers, Ashton Vale, Jacob Clouting (Oxford), Freddy Hodder, Matt Marson (Belle Vue).

◊ A collection for the Great North Air Ambulance Service at the Jewson Bandits’ last league match of the season raised £545.15. Many thanks once again to our supporters for their generosity which has been shown on so many occasions this season.
