We know that supporters have been keen to get the latest update on Reid Battye but our aussie has been undergoing scans and meeting with consultants at the RVI in Newcastle following Saturday night’s crash.
It has been confirmed he’s suffered a broken t7 vertebrae (mid-back) along with a broken nose, bruised chin and bruised ribs.
The vertebrae break was stable enough for Reid to be released from hospital last night and he is now recuperating back in Berwick but obviously faces a spell on the sidelines as the injuries heal.
A message via his social media site adds: “Reid has seen every message and comment from everyone wishing him well and would like to pass on his thanks to everyone that has taken the time to comment, it really helps to read them in tough times.”
With an estimated six to eight weeks of recuperation and rehabilitation the Bandits management is currently discussing how best to cover the absence of a young man who has made a huge impact in just a handful of British meetings.
First up is guests for the weekend clashes with Edinburgh who will be announced later in the week.
