German ace Erik Riss becomes a Bandit for the night on Saturday.
The Redcar Bear guests in place of Rory Schlein when Oxford Cheetahs come to town. Our Aussie number one Rory Schlein suffered severe back spasms during Steve Worrall’s testimonial at Poole on Wednesday. Roo-boy had to pull out of his last ride and, despite visiting a chiropractor and intensive physiotherapy, was also unable to line-up for Wolverhampton at King’s Lynn on Thursday and the visit of the Cheetahs.
So in comes Erik who dropped just one point from nine rides on his two Shielfield appearances for the Bears in 2022, scoring a maximum in the KO Cup tie for good measure. He returned from long-term injury against the Bandits at the Ecco Arena last Friday and was soon back in the groove.
“Losing Rory was a big blow but that was softened when Erik agreed to take the booking,” Bandits’ team manager Kevin Little said.
“He’s been a real thorn in our side at Shielfield both for Redcar and Edinburgh over the years but now the fans get a chance to cheer him on.”
The action starts at 7pm. Tickets, £18 before midnight on Friday, £20 on Saturday, are available from berwickspeedway.com/tickets and the meeting will also be livestreamed by BanditsTV! and available on catch-up from Saturday night. Full details tv.berwickspeedway.com
